Welcome! I’ve been putting together Month of Mom for the last 3 months, and I’m so excited it’s almost here! So what is Month of Mom? It’s a celebration of all you women who are my friends, clients, neighbors, workout buddies, every mom I know who takes care of everyone else first- I want this entire month to be focused on taking care of you, and here’s how I plan to do that-
Giveaways– Every Monday in May, I’ll be announcing the week’s Giveaway here on the blog and through all my social media channels. To be eligible, you need a Facebook account where you can 1. ‘Like’ the post 2. ‘Tag’ a friend in the comments section and 3. ‘Share’ the post on your page. Don’t worry, I’ll remind you of these qualifications each time.
Promotions– Each week, one of Boulder’s boutiques will be running a special promotion for mamas who mention ‘Mile High Style’.
Special Event– If you didn’t see yet, I’m hosting a night of Spring shopping at Chelsea on Tuesday May 5th. 20% of the proceeds from the evening are going directly to the Michelle Wilkins Trust Fund, so please come and help us support this brave woman.
Guest Posts– Look for a fantastic guest post from one of New York City’s top experts, Dana Rosenbloom M.S. Ed. Dana is a Parent and Child Educator and a Child Development and Behavior Specialist. She’ll be guest posting on why self-care makes you a better parent along with 5 simple ways moms can make self-care a priority.
Targeted Blog Posts– All month long, I’ll be posting content exclusively for you moms, from the best bag for everyday, to the shoes every mother needs (hint: it’s not what you’re thinking), to the Hot Mama feature that profiles local women who manage to raise kids, stay stylish, and somehow make it all look effortless.
Subscribe to the blog and visit my Facebook page to stay up to date on all the fantastic stuff coming your way in May!
Friends, this first event of Month of Mom is a most important one. Please join me at Chelsea to shop for Spring with 20% of sales going directly to the Michelle Wilkins Fund. If you can’t make it, please consider donating directly here.
Hope to see you there!
I’m super excited to announce that May is Month Of Mom! Every week there will be amazing giveaways, promotions with local boutiques, special features on the blog, and much much more! Get excited mamas, May is all about you!
Working with a fashion client recently, her closet full of the most amazing hand me downs (mother’s Louboutins, grandmother’s Gucci bags), she admitted to feeling it was somewhat inappropriate to ‘dress up’ in a place as casual as Boulder. I was successful in convincing her otherwise because among Mile High Style’s major edicts is this: you don’t need to downgrade your style because the majority downgrades theirs. Our conversation reminded me of this old post (below), so I’m resurrecting it, in the hopes it can give you permission to wear your best.
As a fashion stylist, I often get questions about what to wear and where to wear it. If there’s one statement I hear the most, it has to be ‘I have no place to wear this!!’
If I can accomplish anything with Mile High Style, it is to convince you of this: you don’t need a ‘place’ to wear anything. You don’t need a reason, an excuse, or an event. You wear it to look good and feel good, because you can and should. If that’s too conceptual, here’s the concrete: you wear it to brunch, to drinks or dinner, to work, to a party, to meet for coffee. Rather than looking overdressed, you’ll look put together and confident- a follower of no one’s rules but your own.
Currently, the design world is trending heavily toward a simple/pared down/modern aesthetic. But I’m not a pared down kind of girl; my personal aesthetic has always reflected a strong dose of glamour. The iconic Blossom Chandelier (made with Swarovski crystals) by artist Tord Boontje has been on my must have short list for years. I have the perfect spot for it in my home. For when I win the lottery and can afford it.
