My mother wore Pucci. As a stewardess for PanAm in the late 60s, she embodied the look of the time and those that followed with effortless chic. While the 80s of my childhood were marked by questionable trends like stone washed and shoulder pads, my mother wore Escada suits. Our home had antiques shipped from her travels around the world paired with inexpensive local finds. My mother was a devotee to quality and her style was uncorrupted by trends. My love of all things beautiful started by watching her (pictured at right).
I graduated from Georgetown with a liberal arts degree and hoping to join the FBI, worked as an investigator in security clearances (after a brief year in broadcasting at CBS). My passion for fashion got me in trouble at both jobs where, after numerous dress code violations, I tried to explain to my bosses that nude fishnets were a perfectly acceptable substitute for ‘nylons.’ They didn’t agree.
Working in the world of the drab grey suit and ‘sensible shoes,’ I sought refuge by making over friends’ closets, wardrobes and homes, finding ample inspiration in the world around me: the city of New York and all it offers in the way of style. The results of these makeovers were compelling: my friends’ external changes resonated on the inside, making them feel confident and beautiful. I felt grateful to be a part of such positive transformations.
Mile High Style is both my profession and passion. With a dedicated following of clients, relationships with the best boutiques and style professionals in the state and a substantial blog readership, I’ve earned a place at the top of Colorado’s style industry. In addition to working with a regular clientele, I am a list member of Couture Colorado (5280’s choice for best blog) and The Scout Guide Denver. I’ve contributed to the Daily Camera’s Home & Garden section, Boulder Lifestyle Magazine, and 303 Magazine and was an active sponsor for the Messy to Marvelous contest in Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Magazine’s January/February 2012 issue. The future looks bright. I am continually inspired by my clients, their incredible transformations, and the opportunity to help them be their best, outside and in.
