Liz Finkelstein of Mile High Style is the complete package! We’ve had the honor of working side by side with her for several months on our new studio office. Thankfully she signed on at the beginning of the project and has worked tirelessly to transform our shell of an office into the studio we envisioned, plus some! She is a consummate professional working day in day out to ensure all details are covered.
We provided her with an inspiration board on Pinterest; she went with it and completely exceeded all expectations. From suggesting to testing paint colors, providing recommendations on the build out, to completely helping us choose furniture, lighting and details (down to a vintage bar cart we found on Ebay), we are in awe! Liz is someone you want in your corner, whether for personal, home or business styling. She is tenacious about making sure her clients are 110% happy and goes above and beyond. Our new studio space is so much more than we could have even dreamed it to be because Liz saw our vision and completely elevated it. We love you Liz!

I was elated after Liz left my house! I felt new and rejuvinated! I ask myself why did it take me so long to do that? That was so easy and I feel fabulous and I haven’t even gone shopping yet…
I have many friends who have worked with Liz and were thrilled. I hired her to upgrade my Master Bedroom but was still hesitant to bring her into my closet even though I would spend way too long trying to put an outfit together and often times just feel ‘okay’ about it. When I finally decided to do the closet purge, it was so refreshing! I had a closet full of things I didn’t need. Liz taught me some much needed style basics. I got rid of things that didn’t suit me, items that had too many details, were inappropriate for my age and so on. What was left were basic items that I still liked but I wasn’t pairing together correctly. Then it was ‘dress up’ time and it was so fun!
Liz created 20 outfits from top to bottom: tops, pants, belts, scarves, jewelry, shoes. I would have never of thought to put the items that were already in my closet together in a very stylish and chic outfit! I think everyone gets in a *rut* and we can use other eyes to help us out! Liz has such confidence and style and knows how to pair things together perfectly. I also loved to learn that my closet should look like a boutique- refreshing, inspiring, organized and chic! Thanks to Liz, I love my new boutique. Every girl deserves this treat!

My 20 year high school reunion was quickly approaching. Although I think of myself as fairly well put-together (never leaving the house without makeup or somewhat styled), I was feeling overwhelmed with the decision of how to present myself to people who would only remember me for the next decade based on this one night. I was also at a total loss as to what to wear because after 12 years of living in hot South Florida (after growing up in New York), I had forgotten what it’s like to dress for the cold. That’s when I thought of Liz.
I haven’t seen Liz in 25 years, but about two years ago, we reconnected via Facebook. After reading her blog posts and Goggling her company, I contacted her with my first-world “dilemma”. As if I were a VIP, Liz was on it! She emailed me back within hours with a comprehensive list of questions. I felt like she was inside my head. Even though we never spoke on the phone, she completely understood what my fashion goal was. It was incredibly easy for me. She made me feel so comfortable and relieved. She asked me all the right questions, emailed me almost immediately with suggestions of jackets, camisoles, shoes, earrings, purses, etc. If I was luke-warm on something, she sent me other great options until I was 100% thrilled. When my entire ensemble arrived in the mail, I took a bunch of pics and she made even more suggestions. I’ve had personal shoppers at high end stores, but I have never had this kind of personal attention before, and I never had to enter a store. All of this was done in my spare time.
The 20 year reunion was a smash. I felt pretty, comfortable, confident and chic. Liz was spot on! I am thrilled that my gut told me to contact her. As a busy, part time working mom, it was a life saver not to have to think about what to buy and where to go. Her help saved me a huge headache! I am so grateful for Liz’s guidance and I know I will be contacting her in the near future to make more fashion decisions for me. Overall, it was an incredible experience. Thank you Liz!

Today was an ideal example of how Mile High Style improved my life. As a mom of children and a business owner, I am naturally running late in the mornings. Prior to working with Liz, this particular morning I would have just grabbed a basic black t-shirt, jeans, some fun earrings, a usual bag and shoes and been out the door. Nothing horrific, but nothing would have stood out. Let’s just say I would have looked ‘fine’.
Instead, I pulled out an outfit that Liz had already designed that included some of my favorite pieces, both new and old. Because Liz worked with items I already owned, I still feel like me, but just a wonderful and noticeable version.
Is it easy to always go along with a stylist’s suggestions? Of course not. However, I’ve found that Liz is always spot on with her ideas and concepts for me. However, it is I that might not always be ready to take the leap. So, in sessions, we will debate her concept bit. If I can’t, I tell her I’m not ready, and we move on to something else. (I know that she secretly hopes we will come back to her incredible idea later, and sometimes we do!)
Her suggestion for me to acquire two ‘big girl bags’ instead of ten ‘average’ bags was hard to conceptualize at first. My initial reaction was “What Liz!? Four digits for a bag?” She calmly asked me to trust her. After discussing it, she professionally sent me to the blog piece she had written several months prior that simply illustrated in detail the idea and justification behind it. Now that the ‘big girl bag’ is my reality, I could not be a bigger believer in the concept. Liz helped me see that the quality and the grade of leading pieces like a hand bag can truly make an enormous shift in my wardrobe and ultimately my image (not to mention actually saving money over time!) . I am proud to say I am on my way to Big Girl Bag #3.
So back to today. Because of Liz and Mile High Style, it doesn’t matter who unexpectedly stops by my office unannounced or what last minute invitation I might receive because I look fantastic and ready for anything. As a woman in a fast paced business, that is a confidence I can’t afford not to have.
Liz, thank you for assisting me to uncover an incredible me that I couldn’t have found without you. But an even bigger thank you for continuing to use your extraordinary talents to help me evolve into the most fantastic version of me every time we work together.

Having never written a testimonial or review ever, I felt compelled to share my experience and journey with Liz Finkelstein from Mile High Style. I first approached Liz via email after turning 50 and wanting to be stylish, but having no idea where to begin. I am one of those women who mistakenly believed that more was better and randomly purchased everything that was either on sale or that looked cool on the rack. I have a huge wardrobe full of clothes and live by that old cliché “I have nothing to wear”.
Liz first taught me that quality over quantity makes a big difference, and with her expert eye and wonderful guidance she sorted the quality pieces I already owned, helped me add superb basics to my wardrobe, and showed me how a few select accessories make a world of difference.
Liz has this wonderful way of helping you update your style and wardrobe with humor, compassion, and an amazing ability to know what looks good. I consider myself to be on the start of a wonderful journey with Liz as she continues to make suggestions to add to my growing collection of clothes and accessories that I truly love wearing. I am already embracing all her suggestions and so far have only wanted to wear the outfits that she has made up for me. I love the fact that she makes a list of ready to wear outfits, as I really am a style novice. There is nothing nicer for me than to take a quick look at my list of almost 20 outfits and know that I will look great. Thank you Liz, for helping me regain my confidence and look awesome all at the same time.

I met Liz while she was working with a client at one of my favorite Boulder boutiques, Chelsea. I witnessed her savvy chic, loved her energy and called her that afternoon to schedule an appointment. I’m so happy I did. Liz’s Mile High Style questionnaire helped me identify my fashion inspirations and articulate the look I wanted, yet was struggling to achieve. Liz audited my closet in a gracious but highly discerning manner.
Discarding items that simply weren’t working for me was wonderfully liberating and I’ve already made hundreds of dollars at local consignment boutique Common Threads that I’m putting toward new investment pieces. Liz designed 20 outfits from clothes I already own that capture my individual style. I feel truly fabulous in every ensemble she’s created and people have noticed, in the best possible way. For a very small investment I’ve gained a whole new beautiful wardrobe. Liz is marvelous – I highly recommend working with her.

This year, I decided that I wanted to have a better handle on my wardrobe. I had a closet stuffed full of clothes, but every time an “event” came up I was off to the store to buy something new. Many times these new purchases were totally different from the rest of my wardrobe and were not worn again. I also had clothes from so many years ago (work suits) and no real “style” to call my own. Liz was a miracle worker. It was hard to hear how much of my clothing had to go at first. But I now have more outfits at my fingertips than I ever did with a closet stuffed full of clothes. And for the first time since college, every single item in my closet fits me flawlessly. This saves me a lot of time because I don’t ever have to try things on first to see if they even fit.
I also don’t go buy items that don’t fit with the look I am attempting to achieve, so I am spending about the same amount of money. I am just buying fewer items that are more likely to be central pieces in my wardrobe. I like so many things about Liz personally, but I love that she is also a consummate professional. She styles a few of my friends as well and has different items for each of us based on what we are trying to achieve. I liked that she did not just have one good set of ideas and try to fit very different women into that same mold. Now I am making more of my own choices and I feel more confident than ever! I would absolutely recommend Liz’s services to anyone interested in developing more of a “look” for themselves and taking their style to the next level.

As a work-from-home professional I was stuck in a rut wearing the same clothing day in and day out. Who would ever see me right? What I realized in working with Liz is that my attitude regarding clothing also affected my self-confidence. I was also a habitual “mannequin” shopper. If it looked great on the mannequin surely it would look great on me! This resulted in an endless cycle of orders and returns and a pile of clothing for donations. Liz listens to my concerns and comments and gently persuades me out of my comfort zone by selecting pieces I never would choose for myself based on self critical thoughts of “my arms are too big for that” or “that makes my butt look big”. I love how quickly Liz works from the initial selection process to providing a list of wearable outfits. She has an amazing eye for style and beauty, chooses quality over quantity and isn’t swayed by the latest fads.

Am I Liz’s favorite client? She CAN’T make everybody feel this special… can she?!
I’m hesitant to write about all the incredible details and extra time & care that Liz put into our appointments. I don’t want her to get into trouble with other clients for treating me like her FAVORITE!!
The process was new and intimidating at first. I was most concerned about our shopping budget AND whether her suggestions would be functional for my sporty, bike-commute-to-meetings lifestyle. I have no problem spending money on cycling gear or electronics but never really had a good sense of what to do when shopping for clothes!
Holy Cats!! In a whirlwind of productivity Liz asked a few questions, had me order a few things online to try, came over to my house and zipped through my closet. We headed out to the most efficient (and successful) shopping trip ever! She grabbed pieces, I tried them on at top speed, then headed home with a pile of new options.
One of the core values in the Zappos Book “Delivering Happiness” is “Delivering WOW Through Service.” Liz’s service is the picture of WOW. Seriously! After she assembled my new wardrobe she offered to meet me at Sephora to help pick out a few must-have items to finish off my outfits, brought me some little band-aids to keep in my wallet for shoe emergencies, and had so many outstanding suggestions to share.
I’m so thankful to have some new options, list of outfits so I never have to think about what to wear, and all of the incredible little extra awesome touches she added to the experience. It was not nearly as terrifying as I imagined, very fun actually!
I look forward to working together again and have been telling all of my friends about this terrific adventure.
And, I am loving all the compliments I’ve been getting lately too!

I had a closet full of clothes that I didn’t want to wear and felt overwhelmed thinking of going shopping to start fresh. I had just finished my training and was starting a new career as a professional and ready to look the part. As a short and youthful appearing person I have struggled with how to “shop” for my body. Pretty much every object in my closet was from a single outlet store and all in unflattering “petite” proportions. I was ready for a change. I found Liz via Google and have been unbelievably lucky to have found her.
Without a doubt, I was nervous to show her my closet. I’d say that 95% of my original clothes are now being donated to Goodwill and I’m so happy to get rid of them. Even though I live two hours from Liz we were able to find an entire new wardrobe in a day of personal shopping and some additional emailing/online purchases. I have been mostly impressed with how Liz really seemed to quickly understand my personality and how I want to be perceived. All of my new outfits make me feel amazing; I have more self-confidence now than ever. It may seem silly and superficial – but I’ve been so surprised at the change in my own perception of myself. I’ve never been a dress or skirt kind of woman – in my profession, I wanted to be comfortable and quick. Since working with Liz, 75% of my work outfits are dresses or skirts and I’ve felt more professional than ever. My patients, my staff, my colleagues – all are raving about the changes.
Overall, this was one of the best investments I’ve ever made in myself. It’s been fun, educational, and I believe will be an enduring change for the better.

Liz is unique in both her honesty and her dedication. When we first began, she came to my house and explained why many of the clothes I owned weren’t stylish or flattering on me. She listened when I disagreed with certain points, and we worked together to determine what styles were most appropriate for me.
Liz’s clients don’t have cookie cutter styles because she knows we are unique individuals. I am unwilling to wear uncomfortable clothes and shoes so that I can be fashionable and Liz works with me to find the right clothes for *me*. For instance, I cannot wear heels due to back problems and Liz worked diligently to find stylish flat shoes. Now I own a wonderful pair of white and gold gladiator sandals that I would have never purchased without her, and I’m so glad I bought them.
Liz was also able to explain why you need to spend more money on a few important times (think NICE purse) and why other things can be purchased from stores like J.Crew or Banana Republic. She realizes that most people have a clothing budget and she tries to help everyone find the right clothes at a price they can afford. Liz has helped to transform my closet from a shelter for random pieces from my past to a stylish collection of clothes for different occasions. I continue to use Liz to add new pieces to my wardrobe and I look forward to working with her in the future.

I have never been much of a ‘Fashionista’. For as long as I can remember, I would rather spend my last dime on a computer or stereo than on a pair of shoes. Until recently, the nicest thing I had hanging in my closet was a pair of Joe’s jeans that some friends practically forced me into buying. I’m not sure what happened, but one day I woke up & decided I needed a fashion upgrade. My closet was packed full of clothes but deciding what to wear was a painful ritual – lots of trying on, finding things didn’t flatter or fit, trying something else on, still not liking how I looked. And when I thought I looked pretty good, seeing myself in pictures would tell a different story. I went into Chelsea one day, saw some information on Liz’s services & decided to take the plunge. Probably one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Liz came to my house, talked to me about my lifestyle & headed straight to my closet. I will admit that letting go of most of my clothes was a little painful. She told me what I should get rid of, what she would take to the consignment store for me and, most importantly, what I needed. I was a little tricky because I needed a casual wardrobe for wrangling my kids, a professional wardrobe for work and a fun, chic outfit for evenings on the town. I learned what shapes worked for my body, how to dress more age appropriately without looking ‘old’, how to find fashionable heels that I could stand in all day (challenging but possible) and how to put together a complete outfit. She didn’t just tell me what to wear but WHY I should wear it. I’m not sure how she did it, but Liz really figured out my “style” and created a wardrobe that was uniquely me. I have watched her work with some of my friends & the closets she has created for each of us is completely unique. Our shopping trips are all business & I always come home with bags of fantastic outfits.
Fast forward to today. My closet contains about half as many clothes as it used to yet I have triple the outfits. I feel like I can ‘shop’ my closet, mixing & matching, knowing that everything is going to fit & look great. I now understand the difference between ‘quantity’ and ‘quality’. When I am lacking a little inspiration, I just refer to my awesome 3 page list of outfits that Liz made for me (and is constantly updating). I am emailed links to online clothes when Liz sees something that would work well for me. I get compliments on my appearance daily. I feel amazing.
As a student in Liz’s fashion school, I am probably only a sophomore or junior. This fashion stuff takes a little work but I am loving the challenge of learning new things. And having Liz around to help me when I need her (especially the emergency texts from dressing rooms) is such a great bonus. I cannot recommend Liz highly enough. As I said earlier, hiring her has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself.

Liz has an eye for things – not just clothes, shoes, handbags, and jewelry but also furniture, flowers, objets, and art. And she is a natural at composing looks, both for herself and for others, that are both interesting and effortless. She artfully mixes edginess with classic glamour, with symbiotic results.
Her closet is akin to a curated boutique, while mine was an uninspired clutter. In shopping, she shows considered restraint – sales don’t lure her into buying what she doesn’t want or need, and she doesn’t feel compelled to buy into the latest trends. She has the confidence to be bold in her choice of what to wear and how to wear it, and she has the unique ability to help others choose what is right for them too.
I am cheap and stubborn, so it took Liz some work to get me to buy a few things. But she has never steered me wrong, and the choices she has made for me have staying power far greater than my own choices. She encouraged me to buy a pair of Diesel jeans back in 2001, before designer jeans were a thing. I balked at their price and was convinced they were unflattering, but I reluctantly bought them… ten years later, I still get compliments on those jeans and how they fit my body.
I have never regretted listening to Liz’s fashion advice. Not only do I still wear those ten-year old jeans, but I also still regularly wear a pair of intricate, gold chandelier earrings she encouraged me to buy years ago. My sister bought a similar pair shortly after she saw me wearing them, and she wears hers all the time too. I still wear a pair of YSL sunglasses that Liz generously bought for me for my birthday one year. I would never have thought to buy translucent maroon frames, but the fact that they are not black or brown makes them more interesting and makes me feel like more of an individual. And I still carry a tan leather men’s Bally bag with its distinctive white and red stripe of canvas down the center.
Liz helps me to forsake the sale racks of mediocre clothes in order to slowly acquire my own closet-boutique of well-made pieces that will transcend the trends and become staples for years to come. Perhaps more importantly, she helps me pick out what those staples will be. And she listens and considers what works for me – for my personality, lifestyle, and budget. Since she moved in Colorado, I’ve found it hard to cull my own closet, to restrain myself from buying things that are fine but nothing special, and to encourage myself to splurge thoughtfully. I am not as good at identifying the things that flatter me and that will still appeal to me next year or five years from now.
Liz is an invaluable guide – she helps me pick out the truly cool things from a sea of overpriced blah; she steers me toward the styles that will flatter my body and away from the fleeting trends that will not (skinny jeans). She was essentially born to be a style guide, and to help people be the more stylish, more confident versions of themselves. I wish that she lived closer to me now!

As a boutique owner my success lies in having a strong, edited presentation of the season’s top picks. When it comes to my own closet though, I am my own worst enemy! Liz helped me purge, refine, and redirect, and made suggestions that updated my look in subtle but powerful ways. Her taste is spot-on, and her advice mindful of each client’s goals, budget, and perspective. If you think you can’t afford to hire a stylist, the truth is that you may not be able to afford not working with one. The money I made from consigning all of the items we purged more than paid for Liz’s time AND the new pieces we added to my collection to update my look.

When I met Liz, I was a keeper. If it was a solid color, had cable knit, or was a jean that still fit, it was still in my closet. They were classics…right? I’m as stubborn as they come, so when Liz suggested donating and replacing some of my old clothes I was not ready. And I’m a teacher. I couldn’t possibly afford a whole new wardrobe. With Liz’s guidance, support and a little nudging, I parted ways with some items, had a trial separation from others (all of which I subsequently gave away!) and started buying some new items. Liz sent me an email with a list of work outfits, casual outfits, and date outfits.
I put them on and I feel transformed. Its not just that I look more put together on the outside, I feel more confident and prettier on the inside. There’s a spring in my step because I look good and feel good. I never would have thought clothes could do that for me. And I learned what to spend money on and what to leave in the store, so I making better purchases that are still in my price range. My experience with Liz (I use her services every season!!) was terrific and fun, difficult at times, but always worth it in the end! She is incredibly talented and knows how to make a woman (and her home) look and feel beautiful. What more do we want?!
