Local Style: Cat
As the editor of The Scout Guide-Denver, Cat Tatman has access to the Mile High City’s best, so it’s no surprise that she always looks amazing. She’s also one of the loveliest people around, which is why I always want to be around her. Here are Cat’s thoughts on personal style-
How would you describe your personal style? Feminine , but not frilly and of course I like to feel comfortable. I also really love jewelry. I try to buy solid, timeless clothing items and then change them up & enhance them with jewelry. I love The Woods Fine Jewelry, Lizzie Forunato, and also have a soft spot for vintage.
What is the most prized/favorite item in your closet? That’s tough, but if I had to pick one item that I covet and never tire of it would by a pair of Chloe boots circa Fall 2005 – saw them in a magazine and knew I had to have them. It was quite a search as these sold out quickly, but I found them!
What is the best style advice you’re given or received? Wear what you feel good in.
What are your favorite local shops? My go to shops for clothing and shoes are A Line Boutique and Goldyn. Plus, Goldyn has great men’s clothing so I love to shop for my husband there. I’ve also recently discovered a shop called Moxie, I can’t wait to start frequenting there as well! For unique finds and gifts I always go to Ironwood – it’s the most incredible store.
What is your favorite decade for fashion? I love the elegance and simplicity of the late 70’s Halston era, the draping and plunging necklines (which I cannot wear but absolutely love!). I also cannot deny the hair, I love the hair.
Fill in the blank: I wouldn’t be caught dead in ___? Those shoes that are fitted to your feet with the toes in them, people use them for running, hiking etc. I don’t know what they are technically called but I actually feel a little mad when I see them 😉 — not too mad, just a little.
Who influences or has influenced your personal style? This changes pretty frequently, but if I were to pick someone I like consistently I’d say Kate Moss. I feel like she always gets it right.
What are some of your other interests/hobbies? I love dining with friends whether it’s a new restaurant or one of my longtime faves. I also love going to see local art and just trying to stay looped in on what going on in my city and the surrounds. There are so many interesting creative people in our community.
What is your biggest fashion steal? A metallic zigzag weave Missoni top. If we are telling the truth, I would actually consider this item as ‘prized’ as the Chloe but you said I had to pick one.
If money were no object, what is the first thing you’d buy for your closet? I don’t think I’ve quite identified this exact item yet ….. I imagine it would vintage and likely some sort of jacket or jewelry. Also, since money is no object, I’d have a much bigger closet.
