Local Style: Rossi
Rossi Lucien (co-founder of Boulder based Unleash) is one of the rare men in Boulder whose style is completely holistic- he doesn’t simply dress well, he uses fashion to express identity: a sophisticated smart ass, a playful bon vivant. Read what he has to say about Superman underwear and lovemaking-
How would you describe your personal style? Cool.
What is the most prized/favorite item in your closet? My collection of Diesel boxer-briefs. Remember that feeling of invincibility when you were a kid putting on your bright red superman undies? You can get that feeling back! Pick a brand of boxer-briefs (this is the only acceptable kind of underwear for male adults) that look good on you and are at least fancy-ish. Throw all your old underwear away and buy 10+ pairs of what you found in different colors and patterns. Match them to your outfit if you think you’re getting lucky.
What is the best style advice you’ve given or received? Try hard. Don’t try too hard. Don’t be a caricature. Know what you can pull off. Fun fact- any one of these rules alone will stop you from looking like a hipster.
What are your favorite local shops? Not many local shops in Boulder for guys… I get by with: Cedar & Hyde, H&M, Diesel, Zappos VIP.
What is your favorite decade for fashion? This one. Being too nostalgic for decades gone by is for people who peaked in high-school.
Fill in the blank: I wouldn’t be caught dead in ______? I call them “Boulder” shoes. Including but not limited to: Crocs, KEENs, Dansko, Merrell, Patagonia, ECCO, Teva, VIBRAM FiveFingers, Clarks, Chacos. Nothing ruins an outfit or your self-respect more than a “comfortable” pair of shoes. If its sold at Pedestrian Shops or LOOKS like its sold at Pedestrian Shops or might have beenconsidered by the buyer for Pedestrian Shops- stay far away. This goes for the gym and hiking as well. Don’t even walk your dog in these.
Who influences or has influenced your personal style? James m’fing Bond. Tom m’fing Ford. Renzo Rosso. Andre 3000.
What are some of your other interests/hobbies? Cycling, squash (not racquetball), lovemaking, lifting heavy weights.
What is your biggest fashion steal? Basics and sweaters from H&M.
If money were no object, what is the first thing you’d buy for your closet? Evening wear: custom Kiton tuxedo and two shirts. Shawl lapels, unvented, black custom John Lobb shoes, Patek Phillipe Calatrava.

Oh hallelujah, finally someone who fully understands my dislike for “Boulder” shoes. They ruin an outfit faster than anything. You shouldn’t be caught dead in them or alive for that matter:)
Right?? His answer made me laugh out loud!
