Since I know you’ve all read Part I and are well on your way to organizing and planning your closet (and your budget) for the ’12 Fall fashion bounty, it’s time to have some fun deciding what to buy. Among the many looks and trends representing this new season, there are always a few that have style power beyond the next few months; these are always the ones I endorse.

RED- Fall is always about a return to deep rich colors, and the color of the moment is Burgundy. Lucky for all of us, this is an absolutely gorgeous color and it looks good on everyone. Choose from sweaters, cords, accessories, and shoes, and the pièce de résistance.

BLACK & WHITE- This is one of my favorite looks of the season because it’s so easily attained. Almost all my clients own a white blazer that, paired over a black dress, epitomizes this trend.

BLACK & BLUE- I’ve only been saying this since forever.

BOOTIES- I saved the best for last, as this is as far as I can tell, the hottest item of the season. Celebrities have been rocking the Isabel Marant version all Summer and the style is available at just about every price point: Highest, Mid-Range, and Affordable.

Of all my style directives, few receive the same kind of backlash as combining Black with Navy Blue. Somewhere, at some point, it became one of those ‘rules’ of fashion (like matching your shoe and belt color, not combining silver and gold, etc.) Juxtaposing these two dark colors is not only allowed, but also encouraged. And Givenchy (pictured) agrees with me.
