The Nontraditional Bride II
BLOG
As a repeat bride in my 40s, I felt that the traditional wedding dress and veil wasn’t a good fit for me’.
When one of my very first fashion clients became engaged back in February, I knew this wouldn’t be a white dress affair. Of all the women I’ve worked with over the last 4 years, no one has embraced true fashion like Sandra, so when I first laid eyes on the mocha lace Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress (pictured), I knew it was perfect.
Outfitting a bride who opts out of the typical is incredibly fun, as a whole world of fabulous fashion is suddenly available. As a nod to the traditional, our search stayed within the color families of neutrals and metallics, while the silhouettes and styles encompassed any and everything: sequined blush with a 1920s inspiration, feminine and architectural in ivory by Lanvin, and the form fitting mocha lace that ultimately became the dress.
Accompanied by nude patent Brian Atwood wedges, raw diamond slice earrings by The Woods Fine Jewelry, and a yellow gold and diamond wedding band by Carla Morrison Fine Jewelry, every piece in her wedding outfit can be worn again, a fabulous bonus!
